What I Do

I help people tell their stories

It’s not easy to boil down all of the different kinds of work that I do into a sentence, but recently I challenged myself to do just that. After all, living and working in D.C., it’s a common question; what’s more, I like to bill myself as someone who’s good at giving a TLDR on complex topics (I swear, I am!).

As I looked for common threads among all the different kinds of work that I do—editing, grant writing, site content and “wordsmithing,” policy analysis and “deep dives,” advocacy, social media, etc.—I kept coming back to one particular commonality.

Stories.

All of the work that I do for my clients involves storytelling—helping them use their voices to their full potential. Whatever message or narrative you’re looking to craft, I can help you do it.

Maybe you’re applying for a grant, and you want to make the best possible case for why that funding should be yours.

Or maybe you’re applying to college, and you want to craft the perfect admissions essay.

Maybe you run a startup, and you want to tell the world about your products and services through your website and marketing materials;

Maybe you’re looking for a new job, and you want your resume to stand out.

Or maybe you’re a student, looking to enhance your dissertation or to improve your academic writing skills.

Whoever you are, I can help. Drawing on my background in advocacy, on Capitol Hill, in academia, and in the non-profit world, I’ve worked with clients to do all of these things (and more). Whether I’m helping a non-profit win a grant, editing a book, or helping a student craft a top-tier admissions essay (etc.), I help people tell their stories to the rest of the world, while keeping their authentic voices at the center of the narrative. As one client told me when I was helping him update his website, “You said exactly what I was trying to say, but better.” And this is precisely what I do. Let me help you tell your story—and let’s see what we can accomplish together.
